Yes, I'm still here and Raphael is still on holidays for another few days...
1997 was my first year in the UK. I arrived in August 1997 in Leicester (Midlands) for my final year at University as an exchange student. That same year Cornershop, a British indie band, also from Leicester was being noticed with their number one hit "Brimful of Asha". The song got even more noticed after it got remixed by famous dj Fatboy Slim. I just love this song as it brings me back 10 years before and reminds me of my year as a student in England...
Just for the story, the band called themselves Cornershop in reference to the british stereotype that all British Asians own a street corner shop, ie cornershops (in the very same way that French people refer to their cornershop by saying "je vais chez l'Arabe du coin").
Anyway, I love this song ! What about you ?!
